Merak Sakten Trek

Merak-Sakteng treks stands out as a distinct attraction in Bhutan. It is moderate trek starting from 1500m to 4100m starting from the nomadic villages of Gengu 3400m. During this trek you will meet with the people who have lived their life in high land from many generation and get to know their unique culture and the way of life. Also you will come across Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary. It was created in April 2003 for conservation and to protect the biological and cultural diversity in the region. It is around 650 km2 area and is bordered by the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh (Tawang) in the north and east, Phongmey Geog and Kangpara Geog in the west, and Shingkhar Lauri Geog in Samdrup Jongkhar.

Day 8 Ranjung trek Camp
Drive Chaling to Damnongchu (Trek start). Distance: 15k, walking time: 7h, sleeping altitude: 3088m.Drive to Rangjung to Chaling is about 15 kms

Day 9 Damnongchu – Merak. Distance: 11k, walking time: 5h, sleeping altitude: 3500m.
