Lungchutse Hike

The Lungchutse hike or dochula hike is the most beautiful hike the in the Thimphu region. The hike initially starts from the stunning pass called Dochula 3140m and end at Hangtsho. From Lungchutse one can see the Himalayan ranges. The hike trail will take you through forest of hamlock and rhododendrons till your uphill hike and slowly you have to walk slightly downwards in thick forest of bamboo, hemlock and junipers till you reached the Temple. On clear days you will have 360 degree views of  grate Mountains like Jumolhari(7314m), Masang gang in the region of Laya (7158 m), Zongophu Gang the table mountain of Lunana region (7060 m) and Gangkhar Puensum (7520 m) the highest peak in Bhutan and the unclimbed virgin peak in the world. While you return back you will come across Trashigang Goemba was built in 1786 by the 12th Je Khenpo. It is an important mediation centre. After reaching Hongtsho one can visit beer factory and test the local beer of Bhutan.

Day 1 Arrival in Paro to Thimphu

Upon arrival in Paro International airport you will be received by BTO representative and drive to Thimphu by private vehicle. Depending on arrival time, we can proceed for city sightseeing or relax in the hotel. Visit interesting weekend market (Thu-Sun). Vegetable vendors from different parts of the country come to sell their local organic products. In the evening we will explore the city by walk or visit Tashichho Dzong, where you can see the office of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. Overnight in Thimphu, altitude: 2300m.

Day 2 Thimphu Sightseeing

In the morning we will start our remaining city sightseeing. We will visit handmade paper mill, School of Arts and crafts (closed on Sundays, government holidays) where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan, We will also visit nearby folk heritage museum, national library and Textile museum before lunch. After lunch, drive pass by memorial chorten built in memory of the 3rd King. Visit Buddha viewpoint, Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, Takin zoo where you can see takin national animal of Bhutan and also few spices of dear and Zilukha Nunnery. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 3 Thimphu Sightseeing Dochula Hiking

In the morning we will drive to Dochula Pass 3050m and have short photo session. If the weather permits we can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a site that stretches almost 180 degrees. After short tea break we will start the hike 4hrs ( Dochula hike or Lungchutse hike). Visit beer factory while returning back. Evening back to town and stroll in the Thimphu City.

Day 4 Thimphu to Paro

After the breakfast, we will drive to Paro and visit National Museum, the first of its kind which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings. Visit 17th century Paro Dzong (Fortress) on foot and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one from the two oldest temples built in 7th century. Evening stroll old Paro town and peep into some local handicrafts stores. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m.

Day 5. Paro Sightseeing

In the morning, we will hike to Tiger’s Nest Temple, the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro valley at 900m above the valley floor. The temple is associated with Guru Rimpoche who visited in 8th century and believed to have meditated three months in this cave and converted entire valley into Buddhism. It is 2 hours walk up hill for an average hiker, however it can take our almost entire day too. And also we give option for going towards highest motor able pass i.e. Chelela pass which is two hours drive altitude of 3988 mtrs for that gusts who cannot hike. The Clelela pass provides you stunning views of the scared mountains Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. Evening back to the hotel and relax. Overnight in Paro.

Transfer to airport for your departure flight.
